I know play is important…but how do I plan for it, and how do I link it to the children’s goals?

Presented by Philip Butler

Description

Most educators have a great understanding of the value of play and see it occurring every day in their learning environments. Some 2500 years ago, Plato told us, ‘Do not keep children to their studies by compulsion but by play’. This webinar reminds us of the educator’s role in play—how we can be intentional with the play and the outcomes, the skills and attributes required to promote and support the play, and how to plan effectively for play. Providing meaningful and enticing play opportunities for children should be at the heart of our engagement with children…it IS the curriculum. To achieve the goals and outcomes we set for children, takes a symbiotic approach to learning between the play elements and your intentionality. Once you understand this connection, new possibilities in programming, planning, engagement, routines, and even relationships, start to present themselves.
