Planning for children’s learning is more than taking random observations of children’s engagement in activities. A happy snap here and there, and a ‘learning story’ tells us nothing about the ‘learning’, or more importantly, the child’s learning journey and dispositions. Done correctly, documentation and planning for children’s learning can have a dramatic impact on the outcomes and overall engagement in the learning for all involved. One of the key elements of effective documentation and assessment processes in early childhood settings is the use of the ‘planning cycle’. The challenge is making that cycle visible. This webinar will shine a light on the planning cycle, the individual components of the cycle, how the different components are connected, and how the cycle can be made visible to all stakeholders. We will also discuss some of the many possibilities and opportunities available for recording, documenting and sharing this information.
