Description
The planning cycle is at the heart of our teaching and learning practices every day. It supports educators to notice, interpret, plan and implement activities and experiences for individual children and groups of children. Although documenting the planning cycle shouldn’t be the most stressful part of your week, it does not need to consume all of your time. In this webinar, we will briefly reflect on the various methodologies for planning and how the contextualisation of our plans brings the learning to life. A planning cycle is not necessarily a cycle, and planned goals don’t always need to be defined from the beginning. However, what is required is the desire and skills to make the learning visible, utilise the information you are gathering to support your thinking and planning, and the ability to share your plans and thinking with others.
Learning goals:
- identify the different components of the planning cycle
- gain clarity around what ‘making the learning visible’ means
- gain knowledge from other participants, and share knowledge with other participants around the planning cycle
- awareness of where to focus your time and attention within the planning cycle
Completing Setting up your first planning cycle for individual and groups of children will contribute one hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) criteria for Elective PD and addresses:
The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: APST 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning
The Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
The National Quality Standard: QA 1: Educational program and practice
