If you’ve ever wondered how to intentionally support the development of children’s emerging language and literacy skills, this session is for you! It will consider how language and literacy are related and what this means for inclusive teaching and practice. Participants will gain ideas for their programs on; modelling language, selecting and using quality resources, creating rich, engaging literacy promoting environments. They will reflect on everyday opportunities (play, routines, relationships with children and their families/caregivers) to promote language and early literacy experiences for all learners and how to have fun doing it!
Learning goals:
- Increased understanding of pre or emergent literacy skills and why they are important for children’s development.
- Improved confidence in planning and teaching educational programs that promote early literacy
Completing Sounds, speaking, songs and stories: promoting emergent literacy skills may contribute one-hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) approved criteria and addresses:
