There are so many benefits of taking the children for a walk in the local community - this is how to do it in a fuss-free way APST 3: Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning Presented by Philip Butler
Description
Excursions ... incursions are all exciting and something to look forward to. Sometimes parents are invited to these ‘calendared events’ – there is a hive of activity and lots of opportunities for fun and learning. But between the excursions and the incursions, have we lost touch with a walk around the block? Walking and exploring the local neighbourhood can be just as exciting—there’s as much learning and much less stress. Like many areas of our practice, have we overcomplicated getting out and about with the children? This webinar will reflect and provoke thinking about getting out and about with your children in the local community regularly. Monthly, weekly, daily, whole room group, small groups, with parent support, without parent support, good or bad weather…there is no right or wrong way, but we will look at them all and learn from shared past experiences of other participants.
Learning goals:
- build awareness of how to connect the local community to the curriculum and planning cycle
- gain a deeper understanding of the regulatory requirements and expectations relating to local walks
- learn from shared past experiences with other participants
