Think environment—think third teacher

How to use the environment to support play-based learning, pedagogical practice and the co-construction of children’s knowledge and learning APST 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments Presented by Philip Butler

Description

We all understand the importance of the environment for teaching and learning.

In this webinar, we will look a little closer at the key elements of the environment, both indoor and outdoor, and how they can be utilised to support the learning, teaching pedagogy and co-constructivism of the children’s learning.

Children learn more from other children than from educators. However, this co-construction of knowledge and play-based learning does not happen accidentally.

How can we link the environment to our programs, and how can we link our program to the children’s goals?

This webinar will bring all this together to create clarity around what and how you can utilise the environment as a 3rd teacher and why.

Completing Think environment—think third teacher may contribute one-hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) approved criteria and addresses:

The Australian Professionals Standards for Teachers: APST 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments

Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 2: Children are connected and contribute to their world

The National Quality Standard: QA 3: Physical environment
