Presented by David Gilkes
Description
Creating contexts for children to engage in shared, deliberately set-up, winding and often delightfully unpredictable conversations, particularly with adults who actively listen and document, helps us to get closer to children’s thinking, ideas and theories. What opportunities can we provide to come together authentically, to create places of dialogue, places to exchange and encounter ideas, meet other perspectives, empathise and challenge, and have your voice heard? How does positioning ourselves alongside children in these conversations bring us more in solidarity with their knowledge-building and meaning-making processes?
Completing Contexts for Conversations may contribute one hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) criteria for Elective PD and addresses:
The Australian Professionals Standards for Teachers: APST 1: Know children and how they learn
Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators
The National Quality Standard: QA 5: Relationships with children
