Presented by Stephen Gallen Explore theoretical and pedagogical approaches and key strategies for effective documentation that honours diverse learning perspectives
Description
Under the National Quality Standard, educators are required to assess each child’s learning and development (NQS 1.3.1). Meanwhile, contemporary approaches to pedagogy and learning suggest new insights into the social nature of learning and the power of the group context: think Inquiry-based approaches and the example of Reggio Emilia in particular.
How can we balance our NQS requirements with rich, contextual pedagogical documentation that honours learning in relationships, the environment as another teacher, and knowledge embedded in place and culture? And how can we do this without drowning in paperwork?
In this webinar, we will discuss the practical aspects of the National Quality Standard (NQS) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and explore wider theoretical and pedagogical approaches. Our aim is to identify key ways of making documentation work for us by meeting the standard while honouring diverse perspectives of learning. Our goal is to equip and empower you to implement these strategies in your own educational settings with confidence.
Completing Beyond Individual Assessment - learning in relationship as part of the National Quality Standard may contribute one hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) criteria for Elective PD and addresses:
The Australian Professionals Standards for Teachers: APST 5: Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
The National Quality Standard: QA 1: Educational program and practice
