If you are considering introducing progressive meal opportunities into your curriculum and are struggling with making the practice of progressive meals ‘stick’ within your team culture, or if you just want to know more about this important pedagogical approach to rituals and routines with children, then this is the webinar for you. APST 6: Engage in professional learning Presented by Philip Butler
Description
In this webinar, we will first look at where the concept of progressive meals comes from, how it is linked to contemporary theory and the frameworks, and the evidence behind the use. We will then look at the practical application of adding progressive meals to the program. How to first prepare for the change (the educators, the children and the families), how to plan out the process of transformation from current practices to the new, and how to embed the new practices into the team culture. There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to offering progressive meals, but there are a range of strategies and skills required for the successful implementation of this practice, and we will also be discussing these in more detail.
Completing I want to know more about progressive meals may contribute one-hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) criteria for Elective PD and addresses:
The Australian Professionals Standards for Teachers: APST 4: Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environments
Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
The National Quality Standard: QA 2: Children’s health and safety
