Description

What views do we hold of our families and communities? What is it that we are doing well and what constructs or ideas may need challenging? How can we create more meaningful and authentic connections with them? In what ways can their voices be heard in our programs and projects? Are there opportunities to involve them more in our documentation processes? This workshop will share stories from practice and look at moving beyond tokenistic involvement to creating connections and partnerships that support relationships and learning.

Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Articulate and discuss with colleagues your views and current relationships with parents, carers and the community and what areas you identify as strengths or in need of support
  • Develop further strategies and ideas for welcoming and engaging parents in planning and projects, as well as possible communication avenues and opportunities
  • Identify possible connections to community in your local context
  • Advocate further for parent, carer and community participation and inclusion
