Strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community

Description

Strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community

PRESENTER: MONIQUE PROUD

For generations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have passed down crucial knowledge of Country and Culture through ceremony, art, storytelling, dance, artefacts and song – maintaining traditional systems of governance on this continent, for tens of thousands of years.  As we continue to navigate through 2020, it is vital that we build strong & meaningful relationships with Traditional Custodians, Elders and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community more broadly, in the areas where we live and work.  It is through developing and strengthening these genuine relationships with community, that deeper understandings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and Australian history can be developed. By truly valuing the knowledge, time and expertise that is shared, and taking on an active role in the learning process, positive impacts will inevitably be made in your service areas. Authentic and mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships are the foundations of success.
