Planning outside the boxes: If you're following up activities, you're doing it all wrong
PRESENTER: PHILIP BUTLER
There is a golden rule when it comes to planning for children's learning…Follow up the thinking, not the activities. Tired of spending hours reviewing the plan trying to come up with 'follow-up' activities—asking yourself the inevitable question...' where to from here?' This webinar will look at the planning cycle and how we utilise children's voices and agency to guide the planning and learning. The more the learning is tuned into the child's interests, passions and needs, the more we can be sure of quality outcomes. We will also discuss using the EYLF Learning Outcomes as a 'guide' for the planning and not a template or checklist. One of the positives of planning like this is that a plan tends to write itself. When using the learning as a prompt for the follow-up and not the outcomes, there are limitless possibilities and opportunities beyond the learning listed in the frameworks.
Completing Planning Outside The Boxes: If your following up activities, you’re doing it all wrong will contribute one hour of PD addressing the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and aligns with the NESA criteria for Elective PD.
