The potential of a question

Description

The potential of a question

PRESENTED BY: DAVID GILKES

Children ask a lot of questions. They have an innate curiosity and desire to know, to find out, to research, to create theories and to make connections. One of our roles as adults working alongside children is to create spaces and relationships for questions to be heard and to grow. How do we respond to questions from a child? Are we happy to stay with questions that might challenge our knowns? What possibilities and potential for developing theories and co-constructing research together can questions provide? Can questions that involve both imagination and facts actually 'play together’ or do we feel like we always need to provide a ‘right answer’? How do I know when to ask a question and when I should stay silent? What questions can I ask myself as a reflective educator? These are just some of the questions that this webinar on questioning will explore!

Completing The potential of a question will contribute one hour of PD addressing the following Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and aligns with the NESA criteria for Elective PD.
