Intentional teaching: where do I begin?

Description

Intentional educators are able to explain what they are doing and why they are doing it. Sometimes ‘Intentional Teaching’ is purposefully doing nothing.

Intentional Teaching involves educators being deliberate, purposeful and thoughtful in their decisions and actions (NQS 1.2.1). This includes being intentional in providing an anti-bias curriculum and the opposite of teaching by rote or continuing with traditions simply because things have 'always' been done that way (EYLF, p15). This webinar will assist you to:

  • Develop a range of ‘Intentional teaching’ strategies including demonstrating, showing interest, open-ended questions and sometimes just observing.
  • Being ‘intentional’ in providing an anti-bias curriculum and inclusive environment.
  • Identify books, resources and materials that promote gender equity.
  • Understand the intentional positioning of resources and the structuring of the learning environment.
