Let it go – Rethinking my role

Description

The biggest shift in my teaching practice occurred when I let go of the idea that I had to reach a particular endpoint - that I had to have a product to share or to be in control of the outcomes. This shift in attitude required bravery and vulnerability and rethinking both how I saw children and how I saw my role. This was about positioning myself alongside children and families, opening myself up to listening and possibilities, and connecting in ways that sought to interweave, rather than fragment, our stories and shared learning and research. What resulted was engagement and meaningful and authentic moments, creating solidarity and empathy with each other as learners. This webinar will share stories from practice to make visible this journey of rethinking.

Completing Let it go – Rethinking my role will contribute one hour of PD that aligns with the NESA (NSW) criteria for Elective PD and addresses:

The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: APST 1: Know children and how they learn

The Early Years Learning Framework Learning Outcomes: Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners

The National Quality Standard: QA1: Educational program and practice
