Community Engagement – a tale or two

All communities are individual, with their own unique characteristics and stories. Communities are a place to make connections with others, provide support and give help to those in need. They are a place where we can develop a sense of belonging and purpose. As early childhood professionals, we are encouraged to build relationships and connect with our community—we know that by doing this we can provide better outcomes for the children and their families. According to Bronfenbrenner (1979), ‘children learn about themselves and construct their own identity within the context of their families and communities ‘. Beyond going for walks, visiting the library and seeking donations from local businesses what else could we do? The webinar will be a tale-telling hour, filled with examples and stories of how services have connected with their communities in different ways.

• Building a knowledge bank of ideas and examples to share with colleagues.
